This organization welcomes all of Ukrainian decent and those who would like to learn more about and participate in the Ukrainian community of Philadelphia. The UACA is the first organization of Ukrainian-American citizens in Philadelphia. Members love their Ukrainian heritage and enjoy sharing the traditional Ukrainian customs. For 110 years, the UACA has provided financial aid to Ukrainian causes, assisted in the resettling of Ukrainian refugees upon their arrival to America, and hosted a variety of Ukrainian organizations’ benefits and fundraisers, as well as, served as their headquarters. We rent our hall and spacious yard to the public for events from fundraisers to weddings. All our invited to our Fish Fry on Friday, April 12 and Cinco de Mayo Party on Saturay, May 4. The Ukrainian American Citizens’ Association, also known as UACA or the Ukie Club on Franklin Street, was established in 1909 and is proudly one of the oldest Ukrainian membership social organizations in the United States. As a friendly reminder, you must present your current membership card to purchase libations, and members may bring guests, however, guests must sign in. Our large hall and outside yard are also available for rental. UACA are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. Ukrainians who settled in Manchester before the Second World War. The club was established in 1929 through the efforts of Joseph Lesniowsky, a leading member of the pre-war Manchester Ukrainian community. Initially the club occupied a single rented floor at 116 Cheetham Hill Road.
In 1933 it moved to rented rooms on one floor at 48 Cheetham Hill Road. In about 1943 new premises were purchased for the club at 188 Cheetham Hill Road. During the Second World War the club was frequented by Ukrainians serving in the Canadian and US forces stationed in the United Kingdom, and by Ukrainians in the Polish Armed Forces under British command. In addition to Joseph Lesniowsky, other officials of the club included Peter Tarnawsky, Wasyl Solar and Wasyl Marchuk.
