The 42nd Ukrainian Festival will be held Sunday, September 17, at Paproski’s Castle Hill Pumpkin Patch, 25 Sugar Lane. The event begins at 11 am with the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Father Ivan Mazuryk, Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bridgeport. Entertainment will begin at 2:30 pm with Kolynonka Ukrainian Dance Group of Stamford, the singing duet of Kit and Kutna, among others.

There also will be an exhibit of Ukrainian arts and crafts and vendors selling Ukrainian artifacts. Activities throughout the day include hayrides, pony rides, petting zoo, moon walk, volleyball and horseshoe tournaments, soccer, and the annual Varenyky Eating Contest at 4 pm. There is plenty of free, off-street parking. The festival will be held rain or shine. It is presented and sponsored by the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church of Bridgeport.

Town-Owned Properties The Town owns a variety of venues available for use to meet the varying needs of residents, businesses and visitors. The Pavilions at Penfield Beach are two beautiful, beachfront event destinations that offer panoramic views of The Long Island Sound, perfect for any celebration including weddings, birthdays, graduation parties, fundraisers and offsite meetings. The stately Burr Mansion at the Burr Homestead in the heart of Fairfield’s historic Old Post Road can accommodate both large and small gatherings and features large rooms, access to 4 acres of gardens and reflecting pools and full kitchen facilities. The Mansion is owned by the Town of Fairfield but managed by the Fairfield Museum and History Center. Contact the Museum for rental information.

Events can be held on the beach, at designated picnic areas or on Town Greens with the appropriate approval. The Fairfield Public Library has six rooms available for rent – four at the Main Library and two at the Fairfield Woods Branch Library.
